Niten Ichi Ryu was originally developed by Miyamoto Musashi, however
nowadays, there are some branches from the original Ryuha. There are a
few misunderstanding about Musashi. Many books mention that he was a
very strong (power) person, otherwise he would not be able to swing the
sword with only one hand. However, this is a misinterpretation of how to
use the sword, as the sword is a heavy object, the best way to cut the
opponent is by using the weight of the sword itself. By doing that, you
can avoid using extra power from your arms, and you can develop a smooth
cut. Also, in real combat, there is no need to cut the opponent in
half, but by cutting the vital points, that would give a fatal damage to
the opponent. By doing so, it is very possible for Musashi to have used
one sword in each hand, and still fight against many opponents. In
Niten Ichi Ryu, all the motions are based on utilizing the weight of the
sword, which is called Kissaki Kaeshi. This is also written on the
Gorin No Sho (Books of the Five Rings). The Niten Ichi Ryu Bokuto is
shaved thinner than the normal Bokuto, in order to practice releasing
the extra power from the arms, and be able to learn the correct Kissaki
Kaeshi techniques. This Bokuto is made with the highest grade of white
oak, with a thin layer of varnish finish, in order to give a long
lasting shine. The price is for the Set (Daito and Shoto). Approximate
Lenght: Daito - 101.5cm(40in)/Shoto - 64cm(25in) Approximate weight:
Daito - 444g(15.6 oz)/Shoto - 247g (8.7 oz)
