Keishi Ryu Bokken is widely used among Police officers for training. Keishiryu Kata was developed in the Meiji Era (1868 - 1912). In the Meiji era, the Kata was composed with the Boku-Tachi-Gata (Wood Long Sword Kata), Tachi-Iai, and Jiu-Jitsu, however currenlty only the Boku-Tachi-Gata is being taught. In 1877 (Meiji 10), during the Seinan Sensou (South Western war), the Battotai was highly aclaimed by its performance, and since then, Jukendo and Jiu-Jitsu has been taught at the police. In order to unify the technique teaching, Keishiryu has been developed.
