Kiji means Raw base.  All bamboo Do are made of Bamboo pieces and a leather piece covers the Bamboo pieces for reinforcement.  Usually, the leather cover is paited with Urushi (Laqueur) to result in a shiny black Do.  In canse of Kiji Do, there is no treatment on the outside, resulting in a yellowish natural leather color.

The Himos (Strings) are included.
